Bengkung belly binding is the Malay tradition of binding a new mother’s abdomen and hips while she recovers from birth.
Belly binding is done 2-3 days postpartum for a vaginal birth and no sooner than 2 weeks postpartum for a surgical birth. After a woman gives birth her body is considered to be depleted and having a lot of open or empty space. Her body needs to replenish the iron, warmth and Qi that were consumed during the pregnancy and birth. It is the belief that a woman needs warmth to stimulate blood production, to move the blood to the areas of the body that need healing such as the womb, abdomen and vaginal area.
These steam baths nurture a women’s most sacred area; her vagina. The steam brings heat to the womb, encourages and maintains healthy fertility, helps to relieve painful menstruation, uterine fibroids, uterine adhesions, cysts, scar tissue internally and externally, uterine weakness and uterine or cervical prolapse. It restores the suppleness to the outer vagina while cleansing the inner.

Inspired by the Traditional Chinese Medicine method of preparation, this involves cleaning the placenta, gently heating and then dehydrating the placenta before it is ground into a powder and put into capsules. Using this preparation is thought to bring out the placentas' healing and tonifying properties as well as helping with warming and healing the uterus.
This service includes a prenatal meeting, picking up your placenta, encapsulation, cord keepsake, informational packet, delivery of placenta capsules and a postpartum follow-up.
Your placenta powder can be mixed into many different types of creams and emulsions to make an excellent skin healer.

By binding the abdomen and hips you are sealing the warmth in and preventing coldness from leaking into the body. Binding also encourages your stomach muscles which have separated during pregnancy, to strengthen back together in a shorter period of time, helps to reshape your hips and helps to support posture while breast feeding. It can also reduce the postpartum “pooch” that many women experience as their womb and stomach organs protrude out due to poor muscle control in the abdomen. The mom should wear the belly binding most of the day, even throughout the night for the first 30 days post birth.
Rebirth ceremonies are designed to make up for the lack of bonding that took place at the actual birth. Parents are choosing to have these ceremonies to focus on bonding with their babies and healing any negative energy left over from traumatic births. A rebirth ceremony is done after a family experiences a birth that was not their original plan – whether it be an emergency caesarean, a vaginal birth with lots of intervention, or even a natural birth that just wasn’t like what they expected it was going to be.
Ingesting the placenta has numerous benefits and can be done in different ways. Encapsulation (a technique of processing the placenta, grinding it into a powder and putting it in capsules) enables you to enjoy those benefits completely and easily. Each placenta's hormonal and mineral make up is completely unique to the mother and no supplement or vitamin can compare to the unique value that this provides the mother in her recovery from childbirth, and the child via the breast milk.
Placenta Printmaking &
Before encapsulation, an impression is taken of your placenta, and it's colored with food coloring. Your umbilical cord is then removed and dried into a heart shape, and can be included in your baby album. For $25.00 more your dried umbilical cord can be made into a dream catcher for your baby. This can be placed above baby's crib. Some cultures use dream catchers to scare away bad dreams and to protect baby from negative energy.
Placenta tincture is an added bonus that can be used in addition to and long after the capsules are gone. By tincturing a small piece of the placenta in a high grade alcohol, you can increase the length and benefits of your placenta for both mother and child. The tincture can be used in any time of trauma, transition, emotional distress and for mother later in life during menopause and even turned into a homeopathic remedy!
